5 Things Estheticians Can Do To Attract & Keep a Strong Client Base


As an esthetician you know how important it is to develop a solid client base. It takes time and patience, especially if you are just starting out. It’s actually pretty simple to become a booked solid esthetician if you’re willing to put in the time and effort. Here are five things you can do right now to get and keep clients coming to you!


1. Ask Your Clients To Come Back

If your client is happy with their services, ask them if they’d like to book another appointment with you. Make sure you have all your clients’ contact information (full name, email, phone number).

Follow up with them, check whether they need new products, and keep them informed of special offers, new treatments, and products via email or text blasts and Instagram posts. Stay connected with the people who love what you do – the way you do it!


2. Keep Learning

Everything in our business is continually changing. Continue to learn! Be open to new techniques and treatment methods, skincare products and equipment. Stay current on your clients’ ever-changing skincare needs and concerns. Remember – you are the expert! Your expertise, knowledge, and client care will help you get and stay a booked solid esthetician.


3. Specialize

Focus on one or two specific services that you love and do well! Are you the peel queen? The waxing diva? The lash princess? There’s so much variety in esthetics!

What unique gift do you have that no-one else can deliver quite like you? Knowing your personal brilliance sets you apart and is critical to your success. Your authentic “brand” plants you firmly in the driver’s seat. So, get creative and create and grow brand YOU!

Ask friends, family, and acquaintances to book an appointment with you. Evaluate the products they use and provide advice on how to use them more effectively, or switch to products that will provide better results.

If you haven’t already, create a business Instagram and/or Facebook account to showcase your portfolio. Post regularly. Set up your website and blog, vlog, and email – it’s the best way to let your expertise shine.


5. Watch Your Competition

The beauty industry is very competitive, even as it continues to grow. The Bureau of Labor statistics job outlook for estheticians predicts a 17% employment growth from 2021-2031 which is higher than average. With all the job opportunities out there, you need to stay on top of your competition. Watch what other successful businesses are doing and evaluate based on your unique offerings. Don’t copy everything your competitors are doing, but if you see what they’re doing works, use the information to fine tune your own growing business.
