5 Ways to Help Winter Skin Glow

It’s never easy to achieve that glowing, hydrated, just-popped-off-the-beach-in-Hawaii glow — but it’s REALLY tough in the winter months. Your skin gets double whammy dehydration not only from cold temperatures and wind, but artificial indoor heat.

There are things you can do to help remedy winter’s dryness. Here are 5 ideas to add and subtract from your routine to get you in cold weather skin survival mode.

1. Use a Humidifier

The interior air in your home and office tends to be drier in winter which means your skin dries out quicker in winter months. Adding a humidifier to your bedroom helps put moisture back into the air, and onto your skin.

2. Moisturize with Oils

Adding oils to your skincare routine can be extremely beneficial year-round, but particularly in the winter. Oils help to keep moisture in the skin while helping to keep toxins out. Our favorites: Rosehip Seed oil and Evening Primrose oil are packed with antioxidants, are anti-inflammatory, healing, and repairing.

3. Eliminate Hot Showers or Baths

There’s nothing like a good hot shower to ward off the cold, except that they can lead to dry, flaky skin and especially if skin is already on the dry or dehydrated. Dermatologists advise taking lukewarm showers instead (at about 98 degrees).

4. Keep up with your SPF

Maybe one of the last things you think you need when the temperature outside is freezing, and the wind chill is below zero is using a daily SPF. But sun is sun and it can still do damage regardless of the temperature. Use an SPF moisturizer all year long for protection and hydration.

5. Add Hyaluronic Acid to Your Skincare

Hyaluronic acid is an important ingredient in helping the skin retain moisture by binding water from the air to the skin. It helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Use our Hyaluronic Acid Serum daily – morning and evening. All skin types benefit and there’s no easier way to help give your skin a “glow boost” – regardless of the season.
