Layering - We're Not Talking Scarves & Sweaters

Layering has been on my mind lately. Fall here in Seattle has finally FALLEN, complete with windy, gray, rainy days and while I’m not quite ready to dig out my down puffer yet, I’m revamping my seasonal skin care strategy.

Don’t get me wrong – layering your skin care products is something that should be done year round. But it becomes more important when temperatures drop and even those with oily skin can start to feel dry. This is the time of year when in addition to sun protection (well, not so much HERE), we need to guard against dryness and dehydration, which can cause skin imbalance and trigger irritation. Layering your skin care products properly will keep skin balanced, nourished and protected during the colder months ahead.

The first step is to wash the face with a cleanser appropriate for your skin type. Not sure which one you should use? We have some great choices:

  • Moor Lavender Cleanser: For dry, sensitive skin.

  • AHA/BHA Citrus Cleanser: A gentle exfoliating cleanser with alpha and beta hydroxy acids. Excellent to prep the skin for home treatments and for oily/combination/problem skin conditions.

  • Green Tea Cleanser: A favorite for sensitive skin, this lotion based cleanser helps skin happy and balanced.

  • Rosehip Seed Cleanser: Our choice for blemish prone and problem skin conditions. Gently cleans without stripping and helps heal irritation. Now with a new pump style top on the 8 oz. retail size.

During colder months try transitioning to a milder toner formula that will still address your skin’s needs:

  • Aloe Rose Toner: For dry, dehydrated or mature skin.

  • Aloe Salicylic Toner: Problem or blemish prone skin will benefit from this toner, which is gently buffered and contains hyaluronic acid.

  • Hydrating Marine Toner: With antioxidant rich marine brown algae, this gentle toner is great for all skin types.

  • Aloe Lavender Toner: Gentle essence of lavender is perfect for all skin types.

Serums are the cornerstone of your skin care regime. Their concentrated formulas penetrate penetrate and deliver.

  • Hydro Collagen Serum: A lightweight, low molecular weight hydrolyzed collagen that works wonders for boosting moisture on combination, dry, and sensitive skin types.

  • Marine Silk Serum: This classic emulsion contains ingredients that work to draw moisture to skin to plump fine lines. Gentle and fast absorbing.

  • Vitamin C Serum: Skin feeling the cold weather blues? All skin types can benefit from the complexion-boosting properties of Vitamin C.

  • Rosehip Seed Oil: Healing, regenerating, hydrating, anti-inflammatory – is there anything rosehip seed oil isn’t good for?

Did you know that the skin around the eyes is thinner than the skin on the rest of your face? This leaves it more vulnerable to dryness, lines, and wrinkles.

  • Collagen Eye Crème: For deep hydration, contains shea butter.

  • Advanced Peptide Eye Gel: A customer favorite for good reason. It sinks right in, provides skin soothing hydration, eases puffiness and protects delicate eye area skin from moisture loss. Peptides work to boost collagen production.

  • Eye Contour Gel Roll On: Keep one with you to hydrate and soothe any time of day. Contains

  • Super Emollient Crème or Advanced Moisture Crème: For dry skin types in need of intensive moisture, this ultra-rich, nourishing cream works like a charm to soften and protect from wind and dry air.

  • Marine Hydration Crème: This go-to formula keeps combination and dry skin comfortable and moisturized without weighing it down.

  • Herbal Complex Creme: Keep blemish prone or combination skin hydrated without encouraging irritation. Keeps skin soft, contains antibacterial clove and Propolis to help heal.

  • Vitamin A & Vitamin C Cremes: Formulated with plant based highly stable Vitamin C and retinol (Vitamin A) to target fine lines and wrinkles, while Vitamin C brightens and protects against free radical damage.
